Passions
& experiences
...a
brief introduction
It
is undeniable that Art has given Pier the chance to cause
the surfacing of all the things that had deposited within
him during years of experience. His strong passion for adventure
(expressed through activities such as speleology, scuba-diving,
archaeology and trekking) played an important role in his
artistic research.
Pier is a man who turns to nature with the gentle, attentive
spirit of those who respect nature, love it, consider it their
own, and are able, within it, to discover their own limits.
It was natural for the artist to combine his in-depth researches
(which are not only physical ones but also, and above all,
inward ones) with the search for new pictorial surfaces.
It is through the intimate relationship between man and rocks
that we can understand why we see works that sometimes seem
carved in stone. The very materials (such as marble powder,
clay or sand) that the artist uses for his surfaces are brought
to the surface by the profundity of his explorations. His
pictorial bases, moreover, are characterised by something
that is reminiscent of rupestrian figures, and the whole work
reminds us of archaeological finds, of fragments of frescoes,
despite the fact that the subjects that are depicted are increasingly
taken from the world of today. It is a sort of recollection
of the present.
This too should be regarded as a research that is leading
to novel results.
